North East Solicitors Add to Their Expertise…Posted: 25th July 2017
A COUNTY DURHAM firm of solicitors renowned for its work in supporting vulnerable people has added a new string to its bow.
EMG Solicitors based at Abbeywoods Business Park, Durham has a national reputation for its Court of Protection, finance and property expertise, safeguarding those who may not be able to make decisions on their own.
And now this well-established area of the practice is to be extended to cover health and welfare, with the appointment of solicitor Eilish Ferry-Kennington to its growing team.
EMG Solicitors has built its reputation on its work for people who suffer from brain injuries, learning difficulties or have lost capacity through illnesses such as dementia, representing their rights when it comes to their homes and their finances.
Now this area of their work will extend to helping clients who need support through health and welfare issues, thanks to the expertise of 36-year-old Eilish.
She has represented clients who suffer cognitive impairments, learning disabilities and mental illness, ensuring that any decisions made are for their benefit.
“I act for people at stressful times of life and often for those who have difficulties with communication,” said Eilish.
“I often represent clients when there is a dispute, for example when a family member may want to care for their relative at home but the local authority may believe they are better off in care.”
“It is my job to help safeguard vulnerable people and ensure that their wishes are taken into consideration and ensure that decisions are made in their best interests.”
Eilish is now working to set up the health and welfare service at EMG, working beside the existing Court of Protection team.
“I was well aware of the excellent work EMG Solicitors do for their Court of Protection clients and I am delighted to be able to join a team with such a strong reputation,” said Eilish.
“And I am very excited about the opportunity of bringing a new dimension to the services that we offer our clients.”
Emma Gaudern, Managing Director of EMG Solicitors which she set up three years ago, added that Eilish was the perfect fit for the firm.
“Eilish’s experience will enhance and extend what we are able to offer to our Court of Protection clients and their families,” said Emma.
“Which means that we can support them in every way to ensure they get the best representation.”
Along with the Court of Protection work, EMG Solicitors offers expertise across a wide range of areas including deputyship, surrogacy, dispute and litigation and residential conveyancing.
