Yasmin AliTrainee Solicitor

Job Role at EMG

I am a Trainee Solicitor at the firm and joined EMG in February 2020. I have just started my second seat in the Family department which will then be followed by a seat in the Private Client department before qualifying in March 2022. Prior to joining the Family department I had an extended seat in our Commercial Property department whereby I ran my own files as well as assisted other fee earners across a wide variety of transactions, ranging from the grant of new leases and licences to commercial property acquisitions and disposals.

I graduated from Northumbria University with an integrated masters degree in Law in 2018. One summer during university I was fortunate to head over to Beijing for a legal internship in the Intellectual Property department of a large firm. This was followed by a month of grabbing bullet trains and overnight trains from city to city along the West. I ended my trip by visiting the panda sanctuary and camping out on the Great Wall of China. After graduating I worked in residential conveyancing for a period of time before moving to EMG.

What do you like about working at EMG?

Everyone is extremely welcoming. On my first day I got caught up in a snow storm (which was not ideal in terms of leaving a good first impression) but I was greeted with nothing but smiles!

Outside of EMG

Outside of work I try to stay fit and I’ve recently started kickboxing. I also like to wind down and socialise with my friends and family.
